The Blackmer house is a
good example of turned spindle, irregular shaped shingles and other wood
ornament characteristic of the Stick style. This was probably a pattern
book house combining Stick and Queen Anne features.
The Blackmers were actively involved in real estate development on this side of the 200 block of Forest Avenue. Orlando Blackmer operated a publishing firm in Chicago. |
