James T. Hayden
209 Forest Ave.
W. K. Johnson
1893

This elaborate Queen Anne house features bulging bays and shingled surfaces curving into window frames, showing the sensuousness of the style.  The house is clad in three different materials, like many Queen Anne homes - stone up to the first floor, brick for the first floor, and shingles second and third floors.  Wright usually confined himself to just two materials.

James Hayden was superintendant of the Crane company plant in Chicago, which was engaged in steel and iron manufacturing, and built elevators. His son George also lived in Oak Park on Euclid street. He also worked at the Crane company.

Thanks to Alma Koppedraijer for her research on this house.
