An old house on this site was sold by George W. Trout to Frank B. Caldwell in 1921. Caldwell's intention was either to remodel the existing house, or build a new one. Charles E. White Jr, an architect who had worked in Frank Lloyd Wright's studio, designed a new home for him in 1921. After Caldwell had to leave Chicago for business reasons, it was sold to Mary Fahrney, who occupied it with her son Ezra P. Fahrney. Mrs. Fahrney purchased the house to be closer to her family, she was the mother of Mrs. Peter Beachy, who resided at 238 Forest, and grandmother of Mrs. J. Lyle Vette, who lived at 308 Forest. Mrs. Fahrney died in 1926.
