Formerly the home of Henry Austin, a prominent Oak Park business man.  Austin befriended the young Frank Lloyd Wright, who lived across Forest Avenue from Austin's property when he first resided in Oak Park.  According to Wright's autobiography it was Austin who first brought to his attention the lot at Forest and Chicago Avenue, the site of his later home.

Austin donated his property to the city of Oak Park after his death, today Austin Gardens is a city park.  The bust of Wright at the entrance is by Egon Weiner, erected 1981.
