This house is just a short distance south of the Guy Smith house. Like the Smith house, it is an American Systems Built house the lumber pre-cut and then shipped to the site, the building plans indicating where each board is to be placed. The Hyde house, however, is based upon a different design than the Smith house; Wright produced hundreds of drawings for the Systems Built project, which ultimately failed; probably since World War I broke out soon after the project was announced.
Hyde was a cashier for the International Harvester Company.
