The house is surfaced with horizontal board and batten; Wright frequently used this wall covering for his all wood houses.  The photograph below shows the cantilevered bedroom over the first floor dining room, and the interesting way the plan steps out further away from the street.  The Millards moved to Pasadena, CA in 1908.  After her husband's death, Alice Millard had Wright built another house for her, known as La Miniatura, in Pasadena.
