

Original Owner Alvin Miller Address 1107 Court Street, Charles City Year Built 1946 The house sits on the banks of the Red Cedar river, and the living room is situated to take advantage of the view. The house is L-shaped in plan, with the living room occupying the short arm of the L, but the living room does not look into the space enclosed by the L, but the opposite way in order to take advantage of the river view.
Alvin Miller was 66 years old when he commisssioned Wright to design this house, making him one of Wright's oldest clients. The house is small, approximately 1000 square feet, with just one bedroom and a study which could also serve as a guest bedroom.
