It was actually Dr. Harper's wife, Ina, who had read Loren Pope's "The Love Affair of a Man and His House" in the 1948 House Beautiful.  She wrote to Wright and asked him to design a ranch house for her family.

The living room and master bedroom of this house are both rotated 45 degrees from the central core of the house, which contains the workspace, second bedroom, entry, and bath.  The ceiling of the living room slopes dramtically upward to guide the view to Lake Michigan, just across Old Shore Road.  Brick and cypress are used throughout the building.
