| This summer home was built for Isabelle Martin, Darwin's wife, in
1926. The house is situated in a dramatic location, just 25 yards from a
bluff whose precipice drops 70 feet to Lake Erie; the backyard terrace ends at
a stone bench right at the bluff. For many years, the property served as
a residence for the Piarist Fathers. Recently the house has been acquired
by the Graycliff Conservancy, who intend to restore and preserve the building.
Tours are available; see their web site (below) for details. |
